process for Drop cap

For the first drop cap, I decided to make a letter about ash wednesday because that was the day it was due. First I traced a letter A and made a stencil. Then I used charcoal to create a texture over top of the stencil.

For the second drop cap, I revised this idea. I wanted to make the letter stand out more strongly against the background and also make the charcoal look more like a smudge instead of a purposeful application onto the paper.
