Urban Outfitters/ Society 6

I got an email about something called Society 6 from urban outfitters online. It features several up and coming artists and designers. Customers can buy prints, laptop, and ipod skins for lower prices. I think this a great way to support the arts and get people interested in design. Here are some of my favorite works the site featured.

To start my process for random system posters, I just explored by taking pictures of objects and thinking about how to abstract them later on. I wanted to focus on interesting color and textures.

Mario's Pizza

Bad typography and layout of my favorite de pizza menu...how sad.
Trays of food, ackground of Italian landscape and cursive writing all take away from readability.

White Lies Music Posters

These are my work in progress posters for the dilatation system. I think I will use the horzontal poster for the final. I want to add texture to the background and maybe fill in the figure with color. I also want to change a lot of the lay out of the text but I don't know what I want it to look like. Do you have any other suggestions?

St. Patrick's Day Drop Cap

At Raven press I printed a wooden letter P and a lead clover stamp to create this drop cap for the holiday.
At first, I only printed one time on the proofing press.
Second, I printed multiple times on the same lock up but just shifted the paper each run. I did not add ink every time so the image would fade.

I sketched multiple layers of tracing paper. I focused on creating textures with fashion inspired imagery and abstract patterns from advertisements from magazines. The band I willl use is called White Dress so my clor scheme will probably be light and neutral.
